Critical Solutions International (CSI) announced today that the Iraqi Army has made its initial purchase of 500 of CSI’s Bandolier Lightweight Multi-Purpose Clearing Charges to help bridge Iraq’s current capability gaps in their fight to retake northwestern regions of the country. Bandolier is a multifunctional explosive system engineered to provide Soldiers with the most efficient way to reduce obstacles and create safe mobility lanes. Through its unique modular design and increased explosive effectiveness, the man-portable system minimizes Soldiers’ burden and time on target while increasing breaching capability.
Iraqi Army leadership identified a critical requirement to rapidly clear mobility lanes, reduce obstacles, and ultimately, protect soldiers’ lives. The Bandolier system introduces multiple enhancements to the breaching capabilities of the Iraqi Soldier. These new capabilities, previously exclusive to Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) technicians, enable trained Iraqi Soldiers to effectively create safe passage through known and suspected danger areas and obstacles. The Bandolier is effective against all obstacles typically found on the battlefield, so soldiers can be armed with a single lightweight explosive system, capable of performing a range of tasks, eliminating the need for multiple mission-specific systems.
Since 2014, CSI has partnered with the Iraqi Army to provide various clearance and Counter-Improvised Explosive Device (C-IED) equipment, including 85 armored engineering vehicles, such as CSI’s Husky 2G. Recognizing CSI’s unwavering commitment to the elimination of capability gaps, the Iraqi army has relied on the company to provide the necessary training for all provided equipment at CSI’s Camp Husky Facility, located at the Iraqi Army Bomb Disposal School (BDS). Through this partnership, the Iraqi Army leadership has identified CSI as the industry leader for providing the most effective clearance equipment, ensuring soldiers receive the best training possible, optimizing their overall capability.
